Lance Hayes
Owner & Trainer
For over 30 years, Lance Hayes has been helping junior exhibitors and adult amateur riders achieve their goals. Anyone who knows Lance can attest to the love and care he puts into each and every horse that lives on the farm. His riding students appreciate his depth of knowledge and calm, positive approach to coaching.
Lance started his career in the 1980s and worked his way up to becoming the caretaker for the famous World's Grand Champion five-gaited horse, CH Imperator. In the following years, he had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the top horse trainers in the Saddlebred industry.
In 1998, Lance opened his own stable and has since trained hundreds of successful horses and riders. Among his list of accomplishments are four World Champions, three Reserve World Champions, and several National Champions and finalists.
Lance has received several professional recognitions over the years. In 2006, he was honored with the United Professional Horsemen's Association (UPHA) Chapter 3/4 Horse Person of the Year. In 2017, he was named the American Saddlebred Association of Wisconsin (ASAW) Horse Person of the Year, and in 2022, he was also honored with the ASAW Lifetime Achievement Award.
In addition to running his barn full-time, Lance manages the annual Oshkosh Charity Horse Show, held each June in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
